The GHBA takes pride in its membership and realizes the importance of growth within the organization. The Associate Council represents approximately two-thirds of the total GHBA membership and consists of 25 elected members who serve as representatives for the general associate membership. The council develops, promotes and coordinates active participation within the GHBA. The committee is responsible for the non-dues income generated through a variety of events that occur throughout the year.
To encourage and motivate students in furthering their education, each year the Associate Council provides scholarships to help out area students enrolled in courses related to the housing industry. This year, the council was proud to award these annual scholarships to two students who are attending Texas colleges and are children of GHBA members.
Dedicated to giving a helping hand to those in times of need, the members of the Associate Council pulled together to participate in the Adopt-a-Family Holiday Project, which is sponsored by the council each December. It was a huge success and helped to brighten the spirits of 50 truly needy families during the holiday season.
Several events that the council holds annually were extremely successful and surpassed the council’s budget expectations this past year. These annual events were the Spring and Fall Golf Tournaments, Clay Shoot and the Barbeque Cook-Off.
The Associate Council joined the Custom Builders Council to provide support and participate in several events and projects in 2005. The members are also actively involved in the New Home and Remodeling Show each year. Additionally, the Associate Council meeting attendance was higher in 2005
than any other year. |
